Here are a few tips for diffusing essential oils around your pet:
- Use a lower sequence and time on the diffuser. Pure essential oils are incredibly potent, so just a few drops can fill a whole room with their aromas.
- Position the diffuser in a place where your pet can’t knock it over.
- When diffusing, leave a door to whatever room the diffuser is in open so your pet can come and go as desired.
Using an oil diffuser for a short time period in a secured area— one that your dog, cat, or bird cannot access—is not likely to be an issue.
However, if your pet has a history of breathing problems, it may be best to avoid using one altogether. Keep in mind, that your pets have a much better sense of smell than we do, so something that seems light to us may be overwhelming to them.
